Onboarding

NOOZROOM ONBOARDING PROCESS​

After purchase is completed, describe the ideal onboarding process. Implied in this process is a minimal amount of configuration required. Ideally, zero configuration required, and allow user to go back in a change settings. This means default pages, paths, and starter content are automatically created during the onboarding. Exactly how this is done is TBD, but the objective should be absolute simplest setup possible.

Here are a couple suggestions how it can look.

IMMEDIATE PROMPT​

Right after payment is complete in Freemius, user is directed via link in confirmation email, and if they are on a purchase page in the plugin or in Freemium, they get a dialog box with a welcome message.

5 minute install should have an instruction component and a walkthrough/guided setup

READ THE DOCS​

Docs should have a Quick Start (the 5 minute install) and full step by step instructions with screenshots and a video version.

SETUP WITHIN WORDPRESS​

If user can buy within WordPress Admin (?), they should get the same prompt as in Freemius. Get Started button can go to a Walkthrough of steps to get up and running with first Press Release.

INSTALL AND ONBOARDING STEP BY STEP​

THIS WHOLE PROCESS NEEDS FLESHING OUT, STORYBOARDING, AND LIST OF FEATURES TO FIX/UPDATE, FOR THE VARIOUS SCENARIOS

Examples: Fresh install of Free, Fresh install of Pro, Install of Pro with Free already installed, Uninstall of Free and Pro, etc.

Business user experience. Developers know all of this, but may still use this method.

  • Download ZIP (From email link after confirmation, or from within Freemius dashboard)
  • Log into WordPress Admin > Plugins > Add Plugin
    • Provide direct link like this: yourdomain-dot-com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php
    • Walkthrough bubbles show step by step from Dashboard landing page
  • Upload ZIP
  • Activate Plugin
  • Enter license key and save (What are the steps here: Does user enter login in WP Admin to authenticate, or go to Freemius dashboard to copy and paste license key back into WordPress)
  • Dialog box and/or walkthrough prompts to guide user through minimum configuration steps

Default install needs 1 sample release and 1 sample coverage
