Content Marketing Tools for Startups

This is some old copy we wrote back in 2019, including names of other potential plugin products we had in mind.

We know the startup drill for marketing departments. For the first 6-12 months, you don't really have one. That is, not a mature one. it's usually a 1-3 man operation with the help from outside vendors. You're running fast, doing a little bit of everything, trying to keep afloat and always wondering if you're going to make it as a company. Some do, some don't.  That's the reality of a startup. But damn, it sure can be a crazy kind of fun. It's during this time you're starting to put best practices in place.  But you don't have the budget or manpower to some of the more sophisticated software platforms out there. You can't afford $800/month for Hubspot. You cringe at having to pay $400 per press release just to get it distributed. You don't have an in-house web developer that can update the content on your site so you have to outsource and that means paying more to make sure that things can be updated in a timely manner. We know, we've been that outside web agency for the past 18 years. We've seen startup after startup go through the same process. They want to run but they can't afford to in the early stages. They need to be realistic and crawl, then walk, then somewhere around 18 months down the road (if the company is doing well) they can think about graduating to more mature software and start to play with the big dogs. That's why we created CMTS. Let's be clear what we're not. We're not an ecosystem, platform or enterprise-grade solution. We're blue collar. We're digital ham 'n eggers. We're simple. But we know how to get shit done. We know you're going to leave us eventually. And that's ok. We don't mind being the "first love". Just let us down gently when you go.

Our Story

Our Story: We didn't start out to be software developers. We're a digital agency that creates websites and marketing content for Silicon Valley startups. Somewhere along the way though, we started to notice a pattern that every company we worked with needed the same things. They needed a Press Room, Resource Library, Partner Portal and Support section. So, instead of reinventing the wheel each time, we built a set of modular plugins that allow these companies to quickly and easily add these functions into their website with minimal effort, both initially and ongoing.

Quickly set up and manage your press releases, news coverage, events and awards.  Nooz started out as a dead simple tool that allowed one of our clients to post press releases to their site without any knowledge of HTML. All they wanted to do was fill out a form, cut and paste a link and be done with it. So we built it for them. On installation, Nooz automatically sets up a press landing page that shows both press releases and press coverage. It also creates a Press Release specific page and a News Coverage specific page. The basic Nooz plugin uses the existing site styles but doesn't offer any "out of the box" styling capabilities unless you know HTML/CSS. Nooz Pro provides beautiful pre-built templates that you can use out of the box. It also has import/export features for migrating content from one site to another (think staging to production).
